Keeping it Real!

In the words of my friend, Misty, I'm keeping it real about what's been happening around here!  Yes, we are living in a remodel. I must say friends, it's been challenging.  When you are living life full speed, with 3 kids, homeschooling, a church family and an aging mother-in-law, add in a remodel- ain't nobody got time for that!!

It's been a trial for sure, but there is great happiness in knowing we did it the Dave Ramsey way - no debt!  And there is a lot to be said for that - no waking up in the middle of the night wondering how we would pay the credit card bill  - thanks be to God for all His blessings and care!

We are coming to the final stages for the main living area, but it has been the hardest and has had the most impact on day to day life. Everything is out of place, everything has a layer of dust on it, everything is askew...........but this too shall pass. I dream of the day I can have an open house and invite all of our friends to come enjoy a meal with us and sit on real furniture, not camp chairs!

So much prep work has gone into preparing the floor for the hardwood. Here you can see where the floor was 2 different levels.  Husband had to add in subfloor to even it up and fill in the gaps with some stuff from Home Depot (I have no clue how to do this stuff!)

Same deal with the kitchen floor- had to even them up!

My beautiful new front door!  Every project has had it snags and no different here installing the new front door- wood rot had to be repaired first and even the BRAND NEW DOOR had a flaw in it that husband had to fix in order for it to hang properly.  We spent this morning figuring out how to install the new lock!

Yikes! This has been my OOTD for the last several days!  Workout clothes!  Hey, at least I still got my workouts in!  Just never got changed OUT of them. Too busy!  One funny thing, while looking like this, my mother-in-law said to me "You are really beautiful, did you know that?"  Wow, she must be looking on the heart!
I hope all of you will come back tomorrow and link up for Thursday Target Threads!!!  It's a linky party!!

  1. Aww Peggy, your MIL is right. You look lovely in that color pink! (And you are right too, you have a beautiful heart!)

I always think it's funny that when I think I look a mess, my husband or daughter finds THAT time to tell me I'm beautiful or special. Really gang? How about when I'm looking fly? ;) I think they must know when I need an extra boost.

  4. Your MIL is right! You are beautiful inside and out and it shows here on your blog.

Home renovations are so stressful, but the reward of doing it yourself is worth all the pain (and saving money). We spent 8 months totally gutting, knocking down a wall, and bringing our family room down to the studs for our remodel. It was a horrible 8 months, but we love it now! Heather

  5. You ARE beautiful, Peggy. :) And I can't wait to see the finished product. We've done two home reno's and they are a lot of work! Great job for doing it the debt free way. Awesome!

  6. I feel you friend! Ours is so close to being done, I can just taste it. Everything has been out of place and haphazard since the summer. I'm ready for it to be all done. I love that front door. I can't wait to see it all. Yay for the "Dave Ramsey" way!

  7. Hang in there, friend! Home remodeling is a CHORE and a MESS, but worth it in the end, right???? Soon you will be done and then you'll find something else to remodel. :)
