Happiness Project Update!

My Happiness Project is going well! I got this little handmade necklace to commemorate my year! It's by Crazy for Handstamping at Etsy! I love it. It reminds me daily to stay on track to reach my goals for 2012.
As you can see by my weight loss ticker, choosing to do Power 90 has paid off - 5 pounds gone! I've just finished week 2 of the workouts and I'm getting stronger day by day. I'm eating 1200 calories and logging them all in My Fitness Pal so I know exactly where I stand and I won't go over. I'm slowly ridding my body of the "junk" I had allowed myself to eat and I'm getting back to where I was 2 years ago with my plant based, whole foods diet (I never strayed from eating plant based, whole foods, just added in a bunch of other unnecessary junk like M&M's and cookies way too often!)

I'm loving Amazing Grass and Amazing Meal. We drink the Amazing Meal Chocolate Infusion as a recovery drink after our workout and it's like a chocolate milkshake but full of all the nutrients our body needs! I add the Amazing Grass 15,000 ORAC packet into our Green Smoothies for even more nutrition.

The kids continue to workout with me and eat all their healthy food! We have added a big green salad to our lunch every day and I'm so proud of all of them!

I have 10 days to go in January and I have some other "projects" hanging over me I want to complete - some paperwork and filing in my office. I hope I make it to my goal - I do so procrastinate on undesirable projects!

Happiness Project Week One

Well, I've completed my Happiness Project for week one! The first month I'm focusing on "Energy". So far, so good. I exercised every day, ate "pretty" well (still munching on M&M's-this just won't do) and tackled 3 projects that had been looming over me.

I am keeping up via You Version with my Bible readings. I am cataloging all my notes and recipes and style files via Evernote. I am also "automating" everything I can using my Google calendar. I use Motivated Moms to keep me on track with the "odd" house chores and I am adding them weekly to my Google calendar. I also am planning my menus with recurring events weekly. I feel like by doing these organizing chores on my calendar, I'm saving so much time, because once this year is over, everything will be set to "auto-pilot"! I'm feeling pretty organized and frisky! I would say success for week one.

Now heading into week 2- I'm making a more dramatic commitment to my exercise routine - I'm going to do Power 90 with Tony Horton. For 90 days.....yikes! I think I have set myself up for success- I took all my "before" shots and I picked a Beachbody coach to help me along the way! I want to be accountable to a group. I did P90X a few years ago when I was at my fitness height .It was a super hard workout, but a great one and I love Tony - he is so funny. I'm going to start with the basics and work my way up!

My 3 children are doing it with me. It will be our PE class! I don't know if I had mentioned on the blog, but we decided to leave the soccer scene. It really monopolizes your entire schedule and the games and tournaments on Sunday were just not working out for our family and our commitment to church. Although we loved soccer and our teams and teammates, this is a positive change for our family. I feel like we have so much free time now to spend working out together-these are exciting times!

Selflessness

Check out this wonderful blog post by Jessica from Monster Cakes! It's great to be reminded to keep our minds on others, not self.

OOTD-Poncho Joe!

When I was in college, our group of friends called ourselves "The Tribe" and we were each assigned an indian name. My name was Poncho Joe because at the time I was crazy over a boy named Joe! Silly girls! We had so, so, so much fun in college. What great times!

Shirt: Charlotte Russe
Poncho: Calvin Klein via Ross- retail $138, I paid $14
Jeans: Cabi Classic LouLou
Boots: Steve Madden Madden Girl via Ross
Necklace: Anthro - gift!
Bracelet: Handmade by my hubby

I had been wanting a poncho since fall began and I was super happy to find this high quality Calvin Klein poncho at Ross. I am also indebted to my niece, KK, for this fox shirt! I had looked high and low for it when it was in stores, and never found it. When I went to visit her family for Thanksgiving Palooza, it was hanging in her closet in the room where I was sleeping. I gasped. When we picked her up from school that day I asked her if I could buy it and she said, "Oh you can just have it"!!! I was beyond excited and I've worn it a million times since then. Thanks KK!!

Look closely, the fox is wearing a scarf! I love this quirky animal stuff!

My "Happiness Project" has begun! This month I'm focusing on Energy - any way you can gain it. This is my plan:
1. exercise daily
2. eat healthy food options
3. get to bed a good time
4. get up early
5. take my greens and supplements
6. tackle a dreaded project and get it behind me
7. think positively, stay away from negative people, don't complain

I plan to chronicle my progress via the blog. I'm off to a good start. Hubby and I have hiked 3 days in a row and I walked several miles this morning. All the candy is out of my house and I made egg white omelets this morning.
